The 2022 FIFA World Cup continued Friday on FOX with Argentina defeating the Netherlands in penalty

 kicks at Qatar's Lusail Stadium in the tournament's second quarterfinal match.

Argentina appeared to be in control of the match with Nahuel Molina scoring in the first half and 

Lionel Messi scoring on a penalty kick in the second to put it up 2-0. 

Wout Weghorst scored on a header in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1, and then scored again in the 

 11th minute of added time. Both teams remained scoreless through extra time, 

setting up penalty kicks. Argentina goalie Emiliano Martínez saved the first two shots,

 putting Argentina in control before winning 4-3 on penalties. Argentina will now advance to play 

which begin on Tuesday. Croatia stunned tournament-favorite Brazil in Friday's first quarterfinal

matchup, winning on penalty kicks and stamping its ticket to the semifinal round.
